BCA Senior Macon Carroll Receives ECU EC Scholars Scholarship

Class of 2019 Valedictorian, Macon Carroll, receives full scholarship into the most prestigious award program offered at East Carolina University - the EC Scholars. Macon, a student of BCA since preschool, will be attending ECU to study Clinical Lab Science with a potential minor in Political Science in the Fall of 2019.

Macon, beloved by her peers and teachers alike, is so deserving of this scholarship. Over the last 15 years, Macon has grown up a major part of the BCA family. We've seen the hard work and dedication she has put into her academics throughout the years. And, we've also witnessed her graceful nature on the stage as a ballerina as she worked her way into the Senior Company at Burlington Dance Center. As a junior, Macon attended the highly sought after NC Governors School for Dance.

On-campus, Macon has been involved in many extra curricular activities including being a Varsity Cheerleader, the Vice President of the History Club, a founding member of the BCA RoyalKeys Vocal Club, and a member of the BCA Shakespeare Club. Off-campus, Macon has also contributed to the community by being a FBC Elon Youth Group and Nursery Volunteer and a Children's Museum of Alamance County Volunteer Play Facilitator.

Her peers describe Macon as adventurous, determined and out-spoken. "She's definitely a peer you look to have in your group projects!" commented a fellow classmate. And, teachers comment on her self-discipline in all subject matters while still keeping a sense of humor that will be missed around campus.

After graduation, Macon aspires to conduct genetic and oncological research with an angle of working as an astronaut to see the effects of atmospheric pressure on cells in space.

We are so proud of Macon and her accomplishments! Congratulations to her family on leading Macon to such success, and we pray doors open wide for Macon to make a huge impact on the world in the future.
