Appointment of New Head of School

Warmest greetings and I hope all is well with you and your family. The Academy, BCA Administration, and the BCA School Board are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mary Martin as the new BCA Head of School effective June 15, 2020. She will assume the responsibilities of the position at the retirement of present Head of School, Michael Brown. Dr. Martin has a B.S. in Bible and Secondary English Education from Summit University, a M.S. in Teacher Education from Cairn University, and an Ed.D. Educational Literacy and Leadership from Judson University. She has most recently served as a Professor at Moody Bible Institute and Chair of the Division of Secondary Bible Education, Elementary Education, and Counseling at Moody. She has many years of experience in teaching, and serving as Head of School, Administrator, and Principal in a variety of institutions. We like Mary a lot!

Dr. Martin is an educational scholar and an instructional leader. She is a well-known and highly regarded school consultant who has provided instruction and guidance at numerous conferences, universities and colleges nationwide. She is the author of Impacting Student Learning through Christ-centered Instructional Leadership, published by Wheaton Press, and has numerous articles published in both secular and Christian educational journals.

Dr. Martin approaches her work with great enthusiasm and intentionality with focus on student learning and achievement. She will continue the mission and vision of the school, which is to provide our students with an excellent and robust academic education within the context of a biblical and Christian worldview. She is friendly, approachable, laughs a lot and appreciates the corporate culture of BCA that is relational, affirming, nurturing, loving, and open-armed. You will love her!

Mary is married to her wonderful husband, Michael, and they have two grown children, Jaclyn, and her husband Jeremy, who live in Pennsylvania, and son John who is in college in California. Mary and Michael enjoy kayaking, visiting new places and cultures, teaching and serving Christ in their church and community, and any weekend they can get to the Atlantic for a walk along the beach.

We are so pleased that Dr. Martin will serve the faculty, parents, and students of BCA for many years to come. With the present global pandemic, plans are uncertain regarding when a formal installation and introduction of Dr. Martin will take place. We will keep you informed as time carries us toward June.
